About Me

I grew up in Spokane, moved to Tacoma, Seattle, and Northern California, and returned to my hometown over 20 years ago. Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent decades working in various roles in higher education. As a parent, I learned about Circle of Security, which continues to inform my work as a therapist and my personal life. Inspired by the efforts of my parents, I support those navigating the aging process and those who care for aging loved ones. I have served as a Hospice Volunteer.

I love learning more about the human experience through stories, whether it be literary fiction, memoirs, documentaries, or deep conversations. Appreciating art, walking with friends, and being in nature fill my cup.

Approach

My primary modality is Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). I also work from a person-centered, existential, systems and attachment lens.

What this looks like: I meet you, in all the spaces you occupy, including those darker places that haven't known how to be seen. Together, we track and understand the patterns that help you survive difficult times, but also get in the way and don't serve your longings and aspirations. I engage you in healing experiences that bring self-compassion and coherence, and generate movement. You learn to understand, trust, and engage with the valuable data embedded in emotions, particularly those that you didn't learn to feel, nor was it safe to do so.

Why I like working this way: This is an experiential approach, which means we venture beyond talk therapy to connect with emotions as they arise in the present. As you attune to these often neglected and lonely spaces with me, you can intuitively navigate to what you most need in these moments, and heal.

It makes sense that you gather more information about me. To help you decide if we are a good match, below are some details regarding my clinical approach, background, professional training, and personality.

Please feel welcome to contact me should you have questions or want additional information.
